Hindu festivel Kali Puja or Shyama Puja is celebrated in honor of Goddess Kali who is regarded as first ten incarnations of Goddess Durga. In the Hindu month of Kartick, usually in October or November it is celebrated.
During the time of Diwali after Durga Puja, this festival is celebrated in West Bengal, Orissa and Assam with great pomp and show by lightning lamps and firing crackers like Diwali. Goddess Kali symbolizes Shakti or strength and is associated with death. People clean, decorate their houses and in front of the house draw rangoli. In the late night, Goddess Kali is worshipped. It is believed that she will destroy all evils in human beings and outside world.
